How to Heal Your Relationship with Your Postpartum Body
Having a baby and becoming a mama is a life changing experience. Everything changes in an instant and so does your body. Whether you lose all the baby weight right away or your body or your weight has shifted or your body is still carrying extra weight. It can be a difficult transition. Your wardrobe no longer fits, you may feel uncomfortable in your body and be unhappy with what you see in the mirror. I hear you mama. I’ve been there. As a twin mama I gained over 40 pounds in 35 weeks. My body stretched and changed in miraculous ways, but once Evie and Poppy were out it all looked a little different.
I was not ready for what my postpartum body would look like and for a long time was ashamed that I didn’t bounce back. Looking back on it now, I wish I had made the choice to celebrate my body and it’s changes for it had brought me two special gifts. A few years ago a wrote a letter to my postpartum body. We’d been through a lot and I hadn’t really accepted how my body had changed. Here is the letter I wrote to help heal the relationship with my postpartum body.
